White wines

2007 Chenin Blanc, Porter Mill Station – MALMESBURY, SOUTH AFRICA £15.00 bottle*
From the Western Cape, and sourced from single vineyard sites on the high altitude, cooler slopes of the Piketberg to the north.

2008 La Grille Cool-Fermented Chenin Blanc, Gwenaël Guihard - LOIRE VALLEY, FRANCE £15.00 bottle*
Plenty of white flower and peach characters from the fully ripe Chenin Blanc grapes make this a delicious, off dry white.

2007/8 L'Enigme de Foncalieu Sauvignon, Vin de Pays d'Oc – FRANCE £17.00 bottle*
A dry, fresh and fruity Sauvignon which offers a powerful nose of gooseberry, citrus and freshly cut grass with hints of more exotic fruits.

2006 Picpoul de Pinet, Félines-Jourdan - LANGUEDOC £17.50 bottle*
This richly fruity yet fresh and zesty Mediterranean dry white is made for seafood and fish.

2008 Vernaccia di San Gimignano, A Passoni - TUSCANY, ITALY £20.00 bottle
An intensely fruity, lively wine showing notes of hawthorn, apples and almonds, which follow through
to the crisp palate. Full bodied and intense, the finish gives an unmistakable flavour of almonds.

2007 Sauvignon Blanc, Quando Robertson - SOUTH AFRICA £20.50 bottle*
This is very much a ‘handmade’ wine; a mere 1000 cases are produced each vintage of this deliciously fresh and tropical Sauvignon with splendid varietal character.

2004 Domaine de Mercey Hautes - Côtes de Beaune – BURGUNDY, FRANCE £22.00 bottle
A stylish wine from one of Burgundy's most reliable and well-reputed producers. Crisp and elegant with citrus and apple fruit characters alongside a lovely streak of minerality.

2007 Chablis AC, Christophe – BURGUNDY, FRANCE £24.50 bottle
A textbook Chablis ‘village’; crisp, fresh, mineral, full of flavour.

2007 Riesling Trimbach – ALSACE, FRANCE £25.00 bottle
Pale lemon in colour with soft green hues and an open floral nose. Full bodied lemony citrus characters, fresh and enticing with good length.

2008 Bourgogne Blanc, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey – BURGUNDY, FRANCE £31.00 bottle
This showcases the class & quality of Pierre-Yves's brilliant winemaking, white Burgundies of marked purity & clarity, crystalline. The quality of the St Aubin & Puligny terroir, from where this originates, simply shines through. Such freshness quickly brings on a thirst.

2007 Rully AC Blanc, Marc Morey - FRANCE £33.00 bottle
Lovely bouquet, mineral & concentrated. Fat & rich (not unlike the winemaker!), with a hint of spice & citrus, this is a very moreish & classy white Burgundy. Lovely with all seafood, fish & white meats.

2008 VdP Viognier, Yves Cuilleron - NORTHERN RHÔNE, FRANCE £33.00 bottle
“Fabulous Condrieu look-alike for half the price” - JOANNA SIMON, Sunday Times

2007 St Aubin AC, Fontenotte, Marc Colin – BURGUNDY, FRANCE £37.00 bottle
From a tiny vineyard next to Champlots, this is always terrific white Burgundy ‘value’. However, the 2006 seems fresher and racier perhaps than the 2005, in that forward and expressive Colin style.

2006 Chassagne-Montrachet AC, Marc Morey – BURGUNDY, FRANCE £45.00 bottle
Completely ‘à point’, and just glorious! Citrus and honeyed aromas. A rich, opulent and mature palate,
yet so fresh and alive. Very impressive.

2008 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc, St Préfert - RHONE, FRANCE £55.00 bottle
Isabel Ferrando always picks late for maximum maturity and in 2008 her white CNDP varietals very late; the 15th October for the Clairette. The wine is as confident as the lady herself, and has built a fanatical following over the last four vintages

2006 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Referts, Marc Morey – BURGUNDY, FRANCE £80.00 bottle
Les Referts runs down the Meursault boundary, and offers a mouth-watering combination of the two appellations, the steeliness and zip of the latter and the honeysuckle and delicately nutty flavours of the former. Intense, stylish and fabulous length on the palate.
